Patch 0.1.2


Patch 0.1.2 is here! Wow!

This patch, though relatively small, does include some important new features. The full changelog is available at the bottom of the post if you really want to read through it all (🤓)

Oh, yeah, and the game came 8th overall in the Jame Gam (Second place for fun factor!) so I'll take that as a win! Thanks to anyone and everyone who ranked the game, be it harshly or with a lot of personal bias for monsters with guns.

The main things to note in this update:

Two new cards! The Fortune card and the Super Heal can now be added to your deck! 

Fortune will increase the odds of future card drops. Using multiple at once will increase it even more!

Super Heal is similar to the Quick Heal card, but heals more than double the HP it does. A useful tool for a tight situation!

A pause menu! It ain't much, but it's honest work.

High Score Tracking! The game will now keep track of your personal best score! This is saved between sessions and beating it will give you confetti yippee :D

BUG FIXES:

 -Fixed a bug where pressing the spacebar mid-game would instantiate another gameplay scene over the current one

 -Fixed a bug where the menu could be interacted with while looking at the controls guide

 -Fixed a bug where knockback was inaccurately applied to enemies

 -Fixed a bug causing spread values to have no effect

 -Fixed a bug where enemies got stuck on walls momentarily when hitting them at high velocities

 -Fixed a bug where the menu screen would appear with the controls guide open

 -Fixed a bug where enemy lightness wasn't applied when being repelled from the player

BALANCING CHANGES: 

 -Cards now remain active for much longer (7.5s > 15.0s)

 -Increased the odds of Underlings dropping cards (0.1 > 0.15)

 -Quick Heal now heals more HP (10HP > 15HP)

 -Bullets now move independent of the framerate (In earlier versions, a lower framerate would make the bullets move slower)

 -Turrets are now much heavier (10 lightness > 2 lightness)

QUALITY OF LIFE:

 -Status Effect Icons in the top left now show how many times they've been applied (if greater than 1)

 -Copycats now have a distinct blue bullet color

 -An indicator points towards enemies once there are less than 3 on the map

KEY ADDITIONS:

 -The game now tracks your highest score and saves it between games (comes with confetti!)

 -You can now pause mid-game

 -Two new cards:

> Fortune: Increases the chance of future card drops from enemies

> Super Heal: Heals 35 HP

 -Pressing Q to discard will now instead move the card to the back of the deck

MISC CHANGES:

 -All buttons now make a sound when hovered over

 -The menu's background is more standard and less distracting
